I find it is a good example of dressing to suit your personality - you have Basil (John Cleese) , the prude, wannabe-upper-class, stressed out hotel manager trying to overcome day-to-day obstacles like his demanding wife Sybil and his not always effective staff. Then you have his high demanding wife Sybil (Prunella Scales), who pleasures herself with gossiping with her girlfriends and spending time golfing. Her put-together and poise appearance certainly shines through what she wears . Last but not least, we have Polly (Connie Booth) - the high tempered and intelligent chambermaid. Though often put in the middle in an argument, she exudes a sort of confidence and determination. Further more, Polly is a creative soul and a very sympathetic person.
I've put together a couple of contemporary outfits, which I think captures the essence of these quirky characters .
